Marvin Gaye's Sister Calls Out 'Wicked & Vindictive' Quincy Jones

Marvin Gaye’s Sister Calls Out ‘Wicked & Vindictive’ Quincy Jones

At 84 years old, Quincy Jones has no problem speaking his truth,  as proven by recent interviews where he dishes on his 22 girlfriends, biopic choices, dating the first daughter and Michael Jackson’s alleged habit of stealing songs. He even went so far as to say both Richard Pryor and Marvin Gaye were intimate with The Godfather himself, Marlon Brando.

While Pryor’s widow confirmed the comic slept with Brando, relatives of the “What’s Going On” singer are furious with Jones for making such claims publicly, and while they neither confirm nor deny it’s legitimacy, speaking on the matter at all is a serious problem for Gaye’s sister, Zeola Gaye.

The younger sibling of the R&B legend, Zeola reached out to Electronic Urban Report to address the controversial statement, calling it “horrible” and “vindictive.”

“I don’t know how to reach Quincy but I thought he was out of line,” she says. “I was totally taken aback when I first read it. But I said, ‘I’m not going to make a fuss about it. That’s just him being him, I guess.’ I don’t know him.”

She continued, “But when I saw it on TMZ, and then I saw it on Wendy Williams show, it hurt because now I know it’s really out there. So I wrote a comment to Quincy on Facebook and I basically said, ‘How could you speak ill of the dead? They’re not here to defend themselves. And how do you know? Were you there? What gives you the right to say that happened if you weren’t there?…. or, were you?’

Zeola believes Jones would be better off spilling the tea on is own sexual exploits rather than sharing the secrets of his deceased friends.

“If you want to tell a story, tell about what you did in life and who you slept with. Why was it so important to talk about my brother and who he slept with?”

She added, “Say he did do it, so what! Did that interfere with the love that he had for his fans, his family, the music that he left us? What was the reason to dog out a person who is not here to defend themself? And since he couldn’t defend himself, I’m doing it for him.”

Zeola goes on to say she and her family are working to perserve Gaye’s legacy, and she refuses to let it be tarnished over a rumor he can’t even address himself.

“I’m going to ask God to deal with you and to heal your wicked heart.”

While Pryor hinted at his bisexuality in his stand-up, Gaye claimed “Sexually, men don’t interest me,” in biography, Divided Soul: The Life of Marvin Gaye.
