Mary J. Blige is a R&B icon, and is planting seeds to become a respected actress as well. After landing an Oscar nomination for her powerful performance in Dee Rees’ Mudbound, the Yonkers-bred songstress is set to co-star in new Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy.

Deadline reports the live-action series will find the singer playing a hit-woman who travels through time to kill her targets. Based on popular graphic novels, the Netflix show will chronicle a group of estranged dysfunctional family members who happen to be superheroes, collectively known as The Umbrella Academy.

Blige will play Cha-Cha, an assassin described as “sadistic” and “sociopathic” by representatives of the popular streaming service.
