After nearly two weeks since his release from prison, Meek Mill had a lot to be grateful for on his 31st birthday.

The rapper spent 169 days behind bars after receiving a sentence of two to four years for violating the terms of his probation. Meek’s legal troubles gained so much attention because of his controversial sentencing. Many people used the situation to shed light on the injustices within the prison system, including Meek, who has vowed to use his platform to help others who may not have the same privileges.

The “Wins & Losses” rapper was released on April 24, allowing him to celebrate becoming a year older outside of a cell. He chose to do so surrounded by close friends in Miami at David Grutman’s Komodo restaurant. The celebration was on the first floor of the venue, with the attendees toasting to the good life with Tequila Avión Reserva 44 and Perrier Jouët Champagne.

Meek is scheduled to head back to court regarding the case in June. In the meantime, the rapper has interviewed with Lester Holt for Dateline about his prison time and will also be releasing a docuseries on the corruption of the Philadephia criminal justice system.
