Meek Mill

After his release from prison not only did Meek Mill hit up the Sixers game with his son, but he also sat down with Lester Holt for an interview on Dateline NBC.

In his first post-bail interview after serving close to six months in jail, the rapper spoke about being tangled up in the court system for more than 12 years. Meek told Holt that he hasn’t felt free “since I caught this case at the age of 19.” The 30-year-old was arrested at 19 for weapons and drug charges and served seven months for the offense but has been out on probation for more than a decade.

Mill added that he knows many people are depending on him and that he believes it was a part of his fate to now use his platform to help out people who are unjustly tangled in the court system. Though he is out on bail, the rapper is not technically free. Judge Genece Brinkley, who set the initial two- to four-year sentence, has set a hearing for June to decide whether to drop the initial charges or to order a new trial.
