Former NFL star and Michael Strahan has been named as a co-host of the new third hour of Good Morning America alongside Sara Haines, a onetime anchor on The View, ABC News confirmed earlier today.
The show, titled GMA Day, will air at 1 p.m.Eastern Standard Time weekdays, three hours after GMA’s second hour. It replaces ABC’s canceled culinary show, The Chew, and will debut on Sept. 10 and .
Strahan shared the news on Twitter, asking people to spread the exciting news. “Tell your friends, tell your family, tell the whole town, shout it from the rooftops!”

Haines took a moment to share her joy over the new journey. “Ahhhhhhhh!! Not even sure I can find the words to adequately express how excited I am to sit next to @michaelstrahan as we embark on this new journey,” she tweeted.

Strahan played for the New York Giants the entire length of his 15-year career and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. He became the co-host of Live! With Kelly and Michael in 2012 , then a full-time anchor on Good Morning America in April 2016.
