Michelle Obama has made pounding the pavement for the Democratic party a priority until the Nov. 6 midterm elections but still found the time to unite two very lucky people in holy matrimony over the weekend.

Wearing a long-sleeve black gown, the former first lady helped officiate the wedding of Stephanie Rivkin and Joel Sircus. The happy couple wed at Theater on the Lake in Chicago, according to The Huffington Post.

TMZ posted video of Obama reciting the bride’s vows to be repeated to her hubby. “I promise to stand next to and support you, through all of life’s trials and triumphs,” she says.

Bride Stephanie Rivkin is the daughter of the Chicago’s deputy mayor, Robert Rivkin. Her mother, Cindy Moelis, is the president of a charity organization founded by Penny Pritzker, who served under President Barack Obama and is a family friend.

Obama was also recently featured in a PSA encouraging citizens to register and vote in the upcoming midterm election.

“The truth is when we stay home, things stay the same or they get worse,” Obama said. “But when we all vote, we get new ideas and new energy. We get leaders who share our values and listen to our voices. That’s how we change America.”
