Nicki Minaj did not perform as scheduled at Hot 97's Summer Jam 2012 at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on Sunday (June 3), after radio personality Peter Rosenberg made a disparaging remark about the hip-hop starlet's latest single at the annual event. Minaj, who was slated to hit the stage at 9:30 with co-headliners Rick Ross and DJ Khaled, dropped out after Rosenberg called "Starships" "wack" to the Summer Jam crowd. While on air during the pre-show, he also said "Shout out to all my real Hip-Hop heads and none of these 'Starship' artists."

Immediately after hearing the diss, Lil Wayne posted a message on Twitter. "Young Money ain't doing Summer Jam." Tyga, also a Young Money rapper, went through with his main stage set at 7:00 p.m., but that was it from the rap collective. Minaj confirmed her departure from the show by taking to Twitter to let people know why her performance slot would be vacant. "Wow. U n—az just f—ed up history. But the president has spoken. #YMCMB" Later she added, "I go above and beyond for my fans. But won't ever go against Wayne's word. What he says, goes."
