MTV announced today that Nicki Minaj will take the stage at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards for her first solo VMA performance ever, in what’s sure to be one of the night’s most talked about performances. Live from the Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday, August 24 (9pm ET/PT), the controversial, acclaimed hip-hop superstar will perform her latest single, “Anaconda,” live for the very first time. Minaj’s highly anticipated album, The Pink Print, is due out later this year.

“The VMAs is a pretty big deal, so people go all out for it,” said Nicki Minaj. “I am very, very excited and looking forward to the performance.”

Minaj joins previously announced VMA performers Beyoncé, Usher and Iggy Azalea. Minaj is no stranger to the VMA stage, with past performances including the 2010 VMA pre-show and 2012’s “Girl on Fire” with Alicia Keys. The MC has also earned two VMA Moonmen awards: in 2011 for Best Hip-Hop Video for “Super Bass,” and Best Female Video in 2012 for “Starships.”
