The former NFL star is set to debut special, OJ Simpson: The Lost Confession?, this Sunday on Fox, with If I Did It book publisher Judith Regan admitting in an outtake obtained by TMZ that Simpson’s lawyer called to tell her that he was ready to confess to the crime under one condition.

“I thought it was some kind of scam, I didn’t believe him, like, I thought this guy was a lunatic…the only condition that he had was that he didn’t want to call the book I Did It, he wanted to put an ‘if’ in front of it so that he would have deniability with his children. He couldn’t face his children and he couldn’t tell them.”
