As an entertainer and poet, Omari Hardwick knows what it’s like to be in tune with the world. The actor, who is taking over TV in his role as Ghost on Power, dropped by Late Night with Seth Myers last night to talk about his journey into acting, his hit show and how he almost pursued a professional football career.

While his appearance was a pretty standard promotional run, the most moving part wasn’t caught on camera. It was shared on his Instagram page and perfectly captured why it’s important to have moments of joy in tragedy.
This week has been difficult. From dealing with the killings of Terence Crutcher and Keith Scott, to the verdict in the Korryn Gaines case, we’ve all felt like “calling into work Black.”
Whether you’re famous or not, Omari’s post proves that none of us can escape the harsh realities of being Black in America.
