Pharrell Williams made a name for himself as one-half of the production team The Neptunes. Now, equipped with his penchant for snares and intergalactic beats, he lifts off to the Hollywood Hills as music consultant for the 84th Annual Academy Awards.  Williams, who first teamed up with Hans Zimmer for the 2010 film, Despicable Me, now rests alongside the composer to bring innovation to the humdrum music that’s been called ‘Glorified Muzak’.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, they composed some 120 pieces for the Oscars, and supervised an orchestra of 60.  Considering just how much we love Williams, we’re looking forward to experiencing his take on award show tunes and seeing just what he dreams up for his red carpet appearance.
