It doesn’t get much cooler than having Prince compose the theme song for your show.

MSNBC's NewsNation with Tamron Hall has a new song created just for the show from the Purple One, who happens to be a big fan of Hall’s work on television when he’s not cooking up new guitar licks. During the "Take Three'' segment on TODAY Thursday, Hall talked with fellow anchors Willie Geist and Al Roker and E!'s Jason Kennedy about the thrill of having a song composed especially for her by "the coolest person on Earth."

“Prince is a news junkie,’’ Hall said. “He is incredible. He is the most thoughtful person. He is engaged with what’s going on in the world, and so it evolved into this amazing opportunity for me to have this song. It blew me away when I got the email. He’s the coolest person on earth.’’

The song’s title was originally Seventeen, but that has been changed to The NewsNation Theme Song, Hall said. She could barely contain herself while keeping the song under wraps for nearly a month before announcing it would be the instrumental theme introducing her show five days a week
