Remy Ma and Chris Brown is dripping in melanin magic on their new 7 Winters & 6 Summers collaboration, “Melanin Magic (Pretty Brown).”
Sampling Mint Condition’s “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes),” Breezy croons about his chocolate lover, “You’re my pretty brown eyes/ I want you / I don’t need you in my life / But you’re my vibe tonight and I love you.” Remy Ma comes through rapping about her “brown skin poppin’”and delivers a verse celebrating her “up north glow”: “Body lookin’ like cinnamon,” she raps. “I’m running shit right now, I think I pulled a ligament.”
Remy shared that this song was meant to empower. “I just wanted to make something to let people know that you’re beautiful, you’re pretty,” she said. “You can be brown skin, dark skin, light skinned. None of that is what makes you pretty or beautiful. It’s what’s inside.”
“Melanin Magic” follows Remy’s Lil’ Kim-assisted single, “Wake Me Up,” and both tracks are expected to appear on 7 Winters & 6 Summers.
