Honoring International Women’s Day, Apple Music has shared the top 20 women in streaming from its platform.
Rihanna holds down the number one position atop a list of impressive female artists. Taylor Swift lands herself in second place, right above the Queen Beyoncé. A remarkable feat for all three women in the top since during their careers they have each excluded their music from being featured on the platform.
R&B newbie SZA lands at number seven on the list. With artists Adele, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Sia, and Selena Gomez rounding out the top 10. Further down the list there is Kehlani, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj.
In conjunction with the reveal, Apple Music also created three playlists geared towards female empowerment: Who Runs the World, Bold Women and Essential Feminism. Julie Adengua will also host a weekly Beats 1 show about gender, sexuality, and female liberation for the entire month of March.
