We truly live in the era of reboots and remakes, as classic gangster flick Scarface will soon be revamped for modern audiences, if all goes according to plan.

Antoine Fuqua is in talks to direct the new version of the 1983 favorite, according to Deadline. Early talks have finally resulted in official negotiations, leading Hollywood insiders to believe things will soon fall into place.

Diego Luna’s name has been circulating as the lead, but these new negotiations have pushed back production, which could lead to scheduling conflicts for the actor.

The new film will follow the same rags-to-riches story as the original, but will be set in modern day Los Angeles instead of Miami this time around.
