Senzo Meyiwa, captain of South Africa's national soccer team, was shot and killed Sunday evening during an attempted robbery outside Johannesburg.

According to a statement from the South African Police Service, three men approached a house in the Vosloorus township where Meyiwa was staying around 8:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. One man stood guard outside while the two others entered the house.

The suspects, who fled after Meyiwa was shot, are at-large. A 150,000 rand ($13,670) reward has been posted for information leading to their arrest.
