Serena Williams made her much-anticipated return to Grand Slam tennis on Tuesday and she’s off to a successful start.

The 23-time major winner defeated Czech Republic’s Kristyna Pliskova 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 in the first round at the French Open, BBC Sports reports.

Her latest victory comes in her first match in a major in 16 months, following the birth of her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

“Kristyna played really, really well,” said Williams to the crowd in Court Philippe Chatrier “I don’t know how many aces I saw during the match. I think there is a donation to charity for each ace, so both of us helped. I’m so glad to win a match here and I’m taking it one day at a time.”

Williams moves on to the second round where she’ll face Australia’s Ashleigh Barty.
