Over the weekend, a fight broke out backstage at the BET Hip-Hop Awards between Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, and their respective entourages. According to TMZ, Ross and Jeezy, whose beef has been a growing footnote in rap history, exchanged words backstage and started pushing and shoving each other. BET security and bodyguards for each other rappers eventually separated the two. After the fight had been broken up, a member of Rick Ross' crew pulled out a gun in the parking lot and fired shots. The reports of shots fired appear to be disputed by TMZ and law enforcement with the gossip website maintaining that someone did let off a few rounds in the air.

In the midst of the brouhaha, TMZ also said that 50 Cent got into a scuffle with fellow Maybach Music Group rapper, Gunplay, who is a protégé of Rick Ross. A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department told TMZ that it used OC spray in the process of breaking up the fight between the two groups. Meanwhile, BET reps quickly try to diffuse the situation telling TMZ, "BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years, BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip-Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence."
