Snoop Dogg may be the next hip-hop icon to have his life brought to the big screen; the Long Beach native recently shared that a biopic is definitely on the way.

The Jasmine Brand reports that during an interview with Vic Jagger of Magic 102.3/92.7, the “Beautiful” MC revealed that a biographical film covering his life story is in the development stages. Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, as well as Empire creator Lee Daniels are reportedly attached to the project.

In the meantime, Snoop is keeping busy with Redemption of a Dogg, a play also based on his life, co-starring Tamar Braxton.

“I just partnered up with my main man, Je’Caryous Johnson, on a play,” Snoop said. “That’s right y’all. Redemption of a Dogg and it’s coming to theaters real soon.”

Johnson wrote, directed and produced the stage adaptation of Set It Off featuring Da Brat, LeToya Luckett, Kyla Pratt and Demetria McKinney. He is also responsible for writing this play, which “examines the internal battle one man has between preserving his life-long legacy and losing the love of his life when he is faced with choosing fame and fortune over faith and family.”

The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” MC has also recently published a cookbook, From Crook to Cook.  According to the LA Times, the book features classic recipes such as baked mac and cheese, chicken and waffles, baby back ribs and chicken Caesar salad as well as lobster thermidor and “munchies” such as a recipe for Frito BBQ twists.

While biopics for legendary rappers The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur left much to be desired, the 2015 film Straight Outta Compton became one of the most successful movies of the year. The drama based on the lives of Compton hip-hop collective N.W.A brought in $60.2 million its opening weekend, the highest-earning opening weekend of any musical biopic.
