Azealia Banks takes a break from Twitter beefing, P.So and 8thW1 muse about a girl who hates hip-hop, Chrisette Michele is back with the lovey-dovey and more.
Azealia Banks, “Yung Rapunxel”
The forever Twitter beefing, passionate rap padawon just dropped “Yung Rapunxel,” and it became Twitter-trending gold. It’s an electro-dance inspired track produced by Lil Internet that is consistent with Banks’s typical style. Admittedly, the beat here is so distracting that the lyrics kinda get lost in the mix. If all else fails, keep calm and… just vogue.

P.So the Earth Tone King ft. 8thW1, “She Don’t”
The song’s intro leads with a trumpet hook that reminds you of Mo’ Better Blues. But when the bass drops, you know you’re listening to straight up hip-hop, which is apropos. P.So and 8thW1 trade bars back and forth about their respective lover girls with uppity tendencies. She doesn’t love hip-hop, and she hates MCs, but she loves these special guys; interesting twist on a love song. “She Don’t” can be found on P.So’s new album, The Gateway to Greatness.

Chrisette Michele, “A Couple of Forevers” (Video)
I sang the praises of this song when it came out earlier this year. One of the things I said was that it would be perfect for anyone looking for a wedding song. But even if not, it’s enough to induce the soft and pink in all of us. Anyway, Chrisette Michele teamed up with celebrity photographer Derek Blanks, who directed the newly released video. The setting seems to be in Europe, and the scene is Chrissie and her man holding hands, all lovey-dovey walking around the city. The classic visuals and washed-out lighting scream romance. “A Couple of Forevers” is the first single from her forthcoming album, Better, scheduled for an April 30 arrival.
