Bilal – A Love Surreal

Finally, Bilal’s A Love Surreal is available for mass consumption! We’ve been getting advance listens for the past few weeks but that just isn’t enough when it comes to this man. A Love Surreal is everything we love about Bilal’s music: funky, trippy, jazzy, romantic, bluesy and swoon-worthy audible good stuff.

Elle Varner – “Not Tonight”

The very underrated Elle Varner offers “Not Tonight,” the latest single from her debut album, Perfectly Imperfect. The vulnerable track beautifully captures the essence of wanting to tell someone how you really feel but can’t because you scurred. Elle sings, “Maybe in another life/I could be the girl who walks up to the guy/And tells him, tells him how she feels inside/But, not tonight, no, not tonight,” in the chorus. There’s tragedy in watching life pass you by without seizing opportunities. But listening to Elle’s raspy voice tell the story makes it all go down much easier.

Busy Signal – “Royal Night”

Busy Signal took a little break from his typical dancehall sound for some roots and reggae. “Royal Night” is the latest single from Signal’s 2012 album, Reggae Music Again, and there’s a newly released video to match the sultry tune. Both tell the story of an intense love affair that he just can’t get over because it’s that good. The video takes that concept to a more scandalous level.

Redhead – “Kickback (Pregame)”

“Kickback (Pregame)” is Redhead’s narrative about a typical night filled with party and bullsh*t. Newbie producer TDeezy (Smoke DZA, Trinidad James) provided the beat, which sounds like electric relaxation as the mellow MC raps about a night out in his native, Washington D.C. “Kickback (Pregame)” is the latest offering from Redhead, who recently scored a distribution deal with SFE/Universal.
