The pilot for a comedy series created by producer and Master of None star Lena Waithe has been ordered by TBS. Waite originally wrote the series Twenties, about a queer Black girl and her hetero homegirls, in 2009.

“I always wanted to tell a story where a queer Black woman was the protagonist and I’m so grateful to TBS for giving me a platform to tell this story,” Waithe said according to TVline.com. “Queer black characters have been the sidekick for long enough, it’s time for us to finally take the lead.”

In September, Waithe became the first Black woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. The 33-year-old is also the mind behind new Showtime series The Chi.
