Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming Colombian series, Siempre Bruja – which translates to “always a witch – about an Afro-Latina who emerges in 2019 after being burned at the stake in 1646.

Afro-Colombian actress Angely Gaviria will star in the series as Carmen, a slave and witch, who was killed in Cartagena during the 17th century for falling in love. The show highlights the Afro-Colombian culture and chronicles Carmen getting accustomed to life in a more technologically advanced world.

The show is produced by Caracol Televisión, a Colombian production company behind successful telenovelas including Sin senos no hay paraíso. 

Siempre Bruja also stars Verónica Orózco and Dylan Fuentes. It is scheduled to premiere on Netflix next year along with other supernatural shows Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch,
