The remaining mystery surrounding the culture shocking deaths of hip-hop giants the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur will be the center of USA’s anthology series, Unsolved: The Murders of Biggie and Tupac.

In true crime style, the series will chronicle the major police investigations into the murders of the rap stars.

Following the cast announcements of Marcc Rose (Tupac) and Wavvy Jonez (Biggie), the network has also lined-up Luke James, Aisha Hinds and LeToya Luckett to play prominent roles in the series.

Fresh off of a successful performance in BET’s The New Edition Story, James will take on the role of music mogul and founder of Bad Boy Records, Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Hinds, who is currently portraying Harriet Tubman in WGN America’s hit series, Underground, and recently debuted her role as Pastor Janae James in Fox’s new drama Shots Fired, has been cast as Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother.

The role is extremely instrumental as Big shared a close relationship with his mom. Ms. Wallace has never stopped seeking justice.

Luckett adds another acting credit to her growing resume as Sharitha Golden, Suge Knight’s estranged wife and reportedly one of the few people not intimidated by the former football player in 1997.

Deadline reports that Kyle Long (Suits) serves as the writer for the project. Anthony Hemingway (The People vs. O.J. Simpson) is taking on directorial duties and will executive produce along with Mark Taylor.

The series premiere date has not been released yet.
