Insecure co-creator Larry Wilmore and How to Get Away with Murder star Viola Davis have teamed up for Black Don’t Crack, a multicamera comedy that recently sold to ABC.

The new series will centers around three sorority sisters who’ve lost touch since college, only to reunite during a pivotal point in each of their lives. After facing many of life’s battles alone, the friends learn that it is OK to “crack” every now and then when you have friends to keep you sane.

Television producer Regina Hicks is set to pen the project.

Davis and her producing partner/ husband, Julius Tennon, will executive produce via their JuVee Productions, according to Deadline.

“Viola and I are inspired by Regina Hicks and to have Larry Wilmore EP is a dream,” said Tennon. “Seeing these three African-American women who appear not to age but to have challenges that we can all relate to and in a way, we have not seen before, will be a revelation.”

Wilmore added, “I’m thrilled to be a part of this exciting project and to collaborate with the crazy talented Regina Hicks. BDC is hilarious, heartwarming and shines a light on women who are hiding in plain sight.”

The former Nightly Show host will executive produce under his Wilmore Films banner.
