Rapper Young Dolph compares record labels to slave owners in his Slave Owner visual. Amid the controversy surrounding Kanye West’s comments about slavery being a choice, the Memphis rapper decided to drop the Gabriel Hart-directed visual.

Before releasing the video, the 32-year-old took to Twitter to throw a jab at West’s comments on 400 years of slavery being a choice during an interview with TMZ.

The video is a short film that draws inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 movie Django Unchained starring Jamie Foxx. Dolph pulls up to a plantation where the owner wants him to sign a record deal. “That there man is gonna make Liberty Land lots of money,” the owner brags in the video. Throughout the short musical artists are compared to slaves as they are depicted being taken advantage of through 360 deals. According to Digital Music News, the 360 agreement is an exclusive recording contract that allows record companies to get a percentage of earnings not just from recorded music but also touring, merchandise, endorsements, publishing and other income streams an artist may have.

“Slave Owner” appears on Dolph’s latest project N***as Get Shot Everyday. Watch the video above.
