On Monday, Amar’e Stoudemire tweeted, "Just enrolled at the University of Miami. Working on continuing my education." The decision to go back to school comes nine years after forgoing college to go straight to the NBA from high school. The UM confirmed his enrollment, with the New York Knick being registered for summer classes.

Enrolled in the general studies program, Stoudemire’s announcement comes a few weeks after Shaquille O’Neal graduated with a doctoral degree in education from Miami’s Barry University. O’Neal graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.813 while completing 54 credit hours. Twenty-nine year old Stoudemire will most likely take a combination of online courses and do video conferencing to earn his degree, as he plans to play in the next NBA season.
