BET is cranking up expectations for its biggest show of the year. The network already has fans impatiently waiting to see its Prince tribute, which promises to deliver a stunning experience with performances from Sheila E., Janelle Monae, and The Roots to name a few.

Aside from the lit entertainment line-up, another fav will be honored during the 16th annual BET Awards on Sunday night. Jesse Williams will be recognized with the Humanitarian Award for his civil rights efforts, and Samuel L. Jackson is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Williams, who served as an EBONY Power 100 honoree and 2015 cover star alongside Harry Belafonte and Zendaya Coleman, is best known for his role as Jackson Avery on Grey’s Anatomy, but it’s his work on the other side of the camera that has gained the actor further applause. Williams is extremely vocal when it comes to social justice and uses his celebrity platform to shine light on injustices. In addition, Williams became part of the Black Lives Matter movement, and was among the thousands of protestors making sure that the death of Michael Brown, and others, was not in vain. Williams is looked upon as a thought leader and poignant voice in this generation, so it’s no surprise BET will recognize his efforts.
