Bill Bellamy Responds to ‘Urban’ White Actor Playing Black Man on ‘Spy Kids’

Voice actor Travis Turner landed the role of PSI in new Netflix animated series, Spy Kids: Mission Critical. Turner recently shared his thoughts on the possible critique he could receive for voicing a Black character, saying he’s worked with African-American rappers before and relates to the “urban” community.

“I have thought about that, but I also have a track with WC right now, I have a track with Snoop coming out. I actually come from an urban background, I’ve lived in motels.”

Turner also feels political correctness has become a problem in the business. Check out the TMZ Q&A below.

Bill Bellamy later shared his thoughts on the casting choice, saying there are too many qualified Black actors in the game for them to have given the role to a White guy.
