50 Cent Addresses Bankruptcy: “You Don’t Have to Worry”

When reports hit the Internet yesterday morning (July 13) that one of hip-hop’s top moneymen, 50 Cent, declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy, jokes and legitimate concerns about his financial situation abounded. But fear not, Fif isn’t down to his last two quarters. The music mogul spoke with E! yesterday to clarify the filing.

“I’m taking the precautions that any other good businessperson would take in this situation,” said 50, who was recently sued for $5 million after leaking a sex tape starring the mother of Rick Ross’s child in 2009. “You know when you’re successful and stuff, you become a target. I don’t wanna be a bull’s-eye. I don’t want anybody to pick me as the guy that they just come to with astronomical claims and go through all that.”

Fiddy assures that he’s still—as he’s once famously rapped—stanky rich. “Walt Disney has filed bankruptcy,” he said. “Donald Trump has filed bankruptcy. It means you’re reorganizing your finances, but it does stop things from moving forward that you don’t want moving forward. I got a decent legal team. You don’t have to worry.”

Future Says Ciara Didn’t Make Him Wait For Sex; Cici Responds (Sort Of)

The Ciara and Future fallout continues. The ATL rapper went full-on Petty Crocker during an interview with HuffPost Live yesterday, commenting on his past sex life with the singer/dancer/hot mother of his son. “God told me something else. He didn’t tell me to wait. I guarantee you that,” Future said, alluding to recent reports that Ciara and her new bae, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, were practicing abstinence for religious reasons. “We prayed afterwards though. After we did it, we prayed—that’s a true story. That’s what really got me…. I was like, ‘Whoa, that sh*t’s blowing me away.’ That’s what sweeped me off my foot. Never had nobody pray after sex.”

Well, Ciara took the high road, sort of. She tweeted yesterday that she would not be entertaining a certain “ignorant and dishonest” person’s shenanigans. “Some Person Is So Dishonest and Ignorant That They Don’t Deserve a Response,” she wrote. Guess not reacting is the new reacting.

Lauryn Hill Cancels UK Concert Due to a “Past Legal Situation”

Lauryn Hill fans in the UK just lost one. L-Boogie was scheduled to perform across the pond this week but has cancelled the July 15 show, claiming a “past legal situation” prohibits her from entering the UK “for a period of time.” The legendary MC/singer took to Facebook to address the cancellation. “Know that I was looking forward to performing in London this summer, and that I appreciate all of my fans and supporters both in London, and throughout the UK,” she wrote. “I look forward to seeing you again as soon as I’m able to.”
