Gabrielle Union Gets 1 A.M. Invites to Prince’s House Parties (With No +1)
If you’ve ever imagined Prince’s secret house party invites as an elaborate printout on metallic purple paper folded into origami, you’d be dead wrong. According to Gabrielle Union, the iconic singer is way informal. Promoting Top Five on The Tonight Show, the actress told Jimmy Fallon that she’ll sometimes receive texts from Prince himself, alerting her to his VIP bashes. “It’s the coolest, most bizarre thing,” she says. “Your phone goes off, you get a text, and it’s just an address, but you don’t get a plus 1.” Sorry D. Wade. “I don’t even know how he gets your number,” Gabrielle continues. “If your friend didn’t get a text you, ditch them! Like, ‘Bye, I’m going to Prince’s house.’ ” We’ll be seeing more of Gabby in 2015, when her BET series Being Mary Jane returns for season 2. The show’s trailer depicts M. J. in a house of mirrors, observing her “beautifully flawed” costars. New episodes of Being Mary Jane hit the tube starting February 3.
Meek Mill Comes Home from Jail
Attention: Your FM dial is about to get a lot louder. Meek Mill has been released from Philadelphia’s Curran Fromhold Correctional Facility yesterday afternoon (December 2). Back in July, the MMG rapper was sentenced to three-to-six months in prison for violating his probation. His release comes just in time for his double features on Nicki Minaj’s The Pink Print album (out Dec. 15); he guest stars on “Buy a Heart” and the deluxe edition track “Big Daddy.” As for his own sophomore solo, Dreams Worth More Than Money (which was slated for September before Meek’s unexpected incarceration), there’s no word on when that’ll be released.

Chadwick Boseman Says He’s Excited to the Point Of Numbness Over Black Panther Role
Chadwick Boseman has become the pride of Black actors seemingly overnight. After portraying Jackie Robinson in 42 and James Brown in Get On Up, he’s now set on bringing Marvel character Black Panther to life. The Howard University-schooled thespian sat down with Fury actor Logan Lerman for Variety’s Actors on Actors franchise to speak on his excitement about his next big role. “I’m beyond excited. It’s to the point where you feel numb, and then your mind goes off into, ‘OK, how do I achieve that?’ ” said the 38-year-old South Carolina native. “This actual character is unique in a lot of ways. I can’t think of a character who is the leader of a nation and a superhero at the same time. There are a lot of different ways this story can go… I’m really just excited about how it fits into the bigger picture of what Marvel is doing.”
