[BLACK POP DAILY] Beyoncé Talks More Feminism in Out Magazine

Beyoncé Covers Out Magazine, Talks Double Standards in Human Sexuality

In case you haven’t noticed, King Beyoncé is all feministic now, and even more of a super duper… well, let’s say Rick James wrote a song about her. So of course she had something to say about the hypocrisy in sexual liberty when it comes to men and women. Ms. Yoncé if you’re nasty covers the May issue of Out magazine, and in her spread, she’s quoted saying, “There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy.” Well, this explains her sudden urge to indulge in explicit backseat limo action and surfboard in half-full bathtubs.

Saul Williams to Star in 2Pac Broadway Musical, Holler If Ya Hear Me

Yes, I know it sounds like a musical based on the life of late rap legend Tupac Shakur, but don’t get your hopes up. Holler If Ya Hear Me is “a non-biographical story about friendship, family, revenge, change and hope,” starring the multi-talented poet-MC-actor Saul Williams and inspired by Pac’s work. (So for those of you expecting more East Coast vs. West Coast, Suge Knight drama and Biggie beef, yeah, just won’t happen.) But with Williams in the mix, it’s safe to anticipate some slam and some crisp poetry jams. The non-Pac storytelling, 2Pac-ish musical is set to start previews May 29 and opens June 19 at New York’s Palace Theater.

Will.i.am Launching a New Line of Smartwatches

Will.i.am has a long list of talents under his belt: DJ, rapper, songwriter, clothing designer, actor, producer. But now he can add brainy inventor to the mix, because the Black Eyed Peas frontman is about to debut a new line of smartwatches. During a sit-down on the British TV show Alan Carr: Chatty Man, he gave a preview of the intelligent wrist piece, which can make phone calls and access social networking sites. It also delivers your favorite tunes through Bluetooth, so you won’t have to worry about playing jumprope with headphone wires—all this without the use of a cellphone, which is required for other smartwatches on the market. (Watch out Samsung.) Mr. Boom Boom Bass hinted at a July release for his self-funded clever trinkets, and I won’t be surprised if these little gems start to cause some serious wrist-watching.
