Whitney Houston’s Lifetime Biopic Trailer Hits the Web—And It Looks Good!
When it comes to Lifetime biopics that have both integrity and entertainment value, most of us aren’t waiting to exhale. But the Whitney Houston life story, Whitney, just might buck the network’s flimsy track record. The trailer for the Angela Bassett-directed film, starring Yaya Dacosta as Houston, hit the Internet yesterday and in just 61 seconds already trumped last month’s critically panned Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B. Bassett’s directorial debut hones on the legendary singer’s marriage to Bobby Brown (played by Arlen Escarpeta). Whitney premieres on Lifetime on January 17, at 8 p.m.
Lil Wayne Says Tha Carter V Is Delayed Indefinitely, Wants to Leave Cash Money
The ever-changing F. initial in Lil Wayne’s Weezy F. Baby moniker has taken on a new meaning: Frustrated. The 32-year-old MC took to Twitter yesterday to air out his grievances with longtime mentor Birdman and the label home that’s released his entire discography, Cash Money Records.
“To all my fans, I want [you] to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released [because] Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” Wayne wrote. His next album, Tha Carter V, was slated to drop Tuesday (December 9). “This is not my fault. I am truly and deeply sorry to all my fans but most of all to myself and my family for putting us in this situation.
“I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy,” he continued, stunning a rap world that views the duo as hip-hop’s tear-tatted Batman and a big, bald Robin. “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity.” Neither Birdman or Cash Money has responded to Wayne’s comments.
Chris Rock Speaks on Jay Z And Kanye West’s Involvement in Top Five
Chris Rock wrote, directed and starred in his newest movie Top Five, but he still needed help getting the hilarious project out there. Luckily, The Throne—Jay Z and Kanye West—signed on as co-producers for the comedy. But just how did they get involved in the first place? “I send all my scripts to Kanye,” Rock said facetiously, on the red carpet for the New York premiere of the movie on Wednesday night. He folds over in laughter. “I mean, if you doing anything that has hip-hop involved in it, you better call up Kanye, you better call up Jay. And they were great. When you see the movie, you’ll see.”
The plot of Top Five follows a comedic actor at a career crossroads on the media-frenzied opening day of his new film, a transition into more serious work. Gabrielle Union, J.B. Smoove and Rosario Dawson co-star, along with an extensive range of cameos from Tracy Morgan to Whoopi Goldberg to Kevin Hart. Top Five drops December 12.
