Kanye’s DONDA Partners with Roc Nation

Kanye West and Jay Z are really exhibiting the behavior of rich folk, because they sure know how to keep it in the family. Yesterday (March 3), a statement was released on Jigga’s Roc Nation website announcing that Ye’s DONDA imprint had signed to the multi-faceted label. The Roc will handle all talent signed to DONDA music (let’s ignore the fact that there are no artists signed to DONDA at this time) and Mr. West’s “international recording brand and worldwide touring ventures.” That’s great! Maybe they can help boost those Yeezus ticket sales Kanye’s been struggling with as of late.

Lil Wayne Owes $12 Million in Back Taxes

On this week’s episode of Celebrities Who Make It Rain in the Club But Can’t Show Uncle Same Some Love, Louisiana rapper Lil Wayne is under fire for owing Big Brother a whopping $12 million in back taxes. According to reports, he owes approximately $5.8 million from 2011 and $6.3 million from 2012. (Pretty smart, considering he’d just paid off his $7 million debt from the year 2008-2009 at the end of ’12.) Weezy is scheduled to drop Tha Carter V in May, so maybe he can catch up on those payments.

Mike Epps Talks Richard Pryor, Kevin Hart

If you didn’t know, Mike Epps took on the role of comedy king Richard Pryor in the supposed-to-be-released-last-year Nina Simone biopic, Nina. He recently expressed just how honorable that short, yet significant, role was to him. “I got a chance to play him in a movie and show people the essence of who I thought he was within a small time period, and I’m cool with it.” (Strings please.)

Speaking of small, Mike also touched on the possibility of working with the new king of funny… Kevin Hart, that is. “We might do a little something later on down the [line]. I have worked with Kevin before. He opened up for me before he became who he was, in the ’90s. He used to open comedy shows for me. It’s his time. Congratulations to him.” (Sounds like somebody tried to fade Kev on the low.)
