Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” Artwork Causes Frenzy
When it comes to selling singles, Nicki Minaj has two very important assets that are sure to make any man’s (and woman’s) eyes pop. In promotion of “Anaconda,” the second single from her upcoming The Pink Print album, Barbie let cheek one and cheek two hang loose in a nothing but a pink G-string, a pink bra and (just to keep it ’hood) some pink and blue Jordans to match. Of course, with imagery like that, no one’s really thinking about the single, butt more about how bodacious her backside looks in that full squat position. Memes, T-shirts and customized posters are already in the works; #ANACONDA became one of Twitter’s biggest trends; and social media heads in general lost their minds. (And a lot of drool too, I would imagine.) Nicki’s new single drops Monday, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see if the track will be as big as her booty.

Nas Uncovers His Slave Ancestry on PBS’ Finding Your Roots
PBS is coming back with a second season of their revelatory series Finding Your Roots, and if you’re a Nas fan, you might want to check it out. The show, executively produced and hosted by Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr., will showcase the veteran wordsmith putting together the pieces of his family tree. On a recent panel, Nas articulated a particular incident where he discovered documentation from 1859 detailing the sale of one of his ancestors into slavery.
“First I was enraged when I looked at the bill of sale,” he said. “I was like, the guy that owned property owes me some cash. My people made him really wealthy, so maybe I should find his family and talk.” (Spoken like a true revolutionary.)
Mr. Nasir Jones is the first hip-hop luminary to take part in PBS’s ancestral journey, but this season also includes stories from stars like Derek Jeter and Jessica Alba. Grab your popcorn (and maybe a few sheets of Kleenex) because the series kicks off September 23 at 8pm.

Zoe Saldana Flaunts Her Baby Bump
Just one day after confirming what we already knew for weeks (that her and husband Marco Perego are expecting their first child together), Zoe Saldana showed up to the London premiere of her new flick, Guardians of the Galaxy. And boy, did she show out, literally! The petite actress flaunted her cute little baby bump in a flowy Valentino Resort printed gown and, yup, she had the glow. Rumor is the fiery actress is expecting a set of twins (watch out Moroccan and Monroe), but whatever the case, let’s wish Mrs. Perego and her swirly hubby a healthy new edition(s). Congrats Zoe!
