Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson’s Black-ish to Launch on ABC

If you’re tired of the same ol’ hair-pulling, table-jumping, all-Black-people-look-like-classless-fools reality scene, good news: another respectable African-American family is coming to a TV screen near you. ABC just announced that Anthony Anderson’s Black-ish has been added to their 2014-2015 roster! The show is centered on Anderson’s upper-middle class character and his struggle to instill a sense of cultural identity in his suburban kids. Tracee Ellis Ross plays his “liberal” wife, and Laurence Fishburne (who will also serve as executive producer) is the “old-school” granddaddy.

Shonda Rhimes Sued for Stealing Off the Map Manuscript

Mo’ money, mo’ problems… Now that Scandal writer-director-producer Shonda Rhimes is movin’ on up and getting that Jeffersons money, struggle writers are popping out Brokeville with questionable lawsuits. A woman by the name of Debra Feldman is suing Rhimes for allegedly stealing her “The Red Tattoo” manuscript and turning it into the short-lived 2011 ABC series, Off the Map. The show followed a group of doctors practicing in a remote South African village, and Ms. Feldman claims none of the writers knew jack about medical practices outside of the U.S. before getting their dirty paws on her golden script. But obviously, it took her three long years to come to that realization…

Kanye Sends a Special Message to His Mom on Mother’s Day

While everyone was out pampering their moms with flowers, fancy dinners and spa treatments for Mother’s Day, Kanye West was remembering his late mother, Donda West, with a simple, impactful message for the world to see. In honor of Ms. West, who died due to postoperative complications back in 2007, Yeezy uploaded a photo of a beautiful city skyline on Twitter, with a caption that read, “hi Mom.” (Sometimes less is more… sweet!) Keep your head up Ye, and may your mother continue to rest in peace.
