Chaka Khan Disturbed by Clive Davis’ Grammy Party

When word of Whitney Houston's passing hit on the eve of the Grammy Awards, many were skeptical if Clive Davis' legendary annual pre-party would commence. Surprisingly enough, it did, and the decision to do so has angered Chaka Khan. According to the singer/songwriter, the whole idea of having a party in the same hotel, just hours after a death, "is insane."

Speaking with Piers Morgan on "Piers Morgan Tonight," Khan said, "I thought that was complete insanity. I don't know what could motivate a person, to have a party, in a building, where the person, whose life he had influenced so enormously, and whose life had been affected by her… I don't understand how that party went on."

In addition to slinging arrows towards the J Records founder, Khan also pulled out of a planned Grammy tribute to Houston with Jennifer Hudson.  "As I grieve the loss of my friend and "little sister," I don't feel it appropriate to perform at this time," Khan wrote via her Twitter account. "Continue to pray for the family."

While "the show must go on," is a common phrase in entertainment, was Chaka Khan right in her criticisms? Should there have been a little bit more respect for the recently departed?
