Chaka Khan Leads Tribute Song for Trayvon Martin

Singer Chaka Khan gathered several of her famous friends to record a remake of the song “Super Life” in memory of Trayvon Martin. Singers Eric Benet,  Luke James, Kelly Price and Kenny Lattimore, and actors Angela Bassett, Terry Crews, and Boris Kodjoe — all dressed in hoodies like the one Martin was wearing when he was killed — joined the singer for the recording of the tune that premiered on Monday.

From Khan's website: "…celebrities are privileged beyond belief to have a public following. We have explored and exploited media to our own benefits. Now it’s time to exploit media for the benefit of humanity as a whole. As purveyors of content and media, we need to use our voices to stop injustice at the site of its origin.”

‚ÄčAlthough Black entertainers and athletes get criticized often for not using their considerable reach to affect social change, the Trayvon Martin case seems to have been the breaking point for many of them as well. Will this trend continue, or will things go back to the status quo once the Martin case loses steam?
