Auto-tune of the past and future unite for Gap’s “Meet Me in the Gap” fall campaign endorsed by the icon Cher and rap superstar Future.
Adorned in some of Gap’s latest threads, Future and Cher are seated on white steps while they cover Sly and the Family Stone’s “Everyday People.” HNDRXX provided his signature style of ad-libing as Cher handled majority of the singing, which created a smooth and harmonizing melody.
“When Gap said they wanted to team me up with a young artist I knew it would be really beautiful,” Cher told People. “We had a blast together.” Future’s three-year-old son, Future Zahir, recently starred in a Gap Kids ad so it was especially meaningful for the Atlanta native. “It’s part of my DNA, growing up wearing Gap, and now to see my son wearing it, and in a campaign ties the whole family together,” he said. “They have something for every age, every person in a family.”
With plans to save the leather jacket he wore in the campaign for his son, his family ties to the brand make it pretty momentous, but working with Cher was the icing on the cake. “It was cool to work with someone who is in the industry but has such a different background and life from me,” he said. “Our love for music really connected us. She’s a true performer and a legend.”
