Get Out and Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya won big at the 71st British Academy Film Awards on Sunday, where he took home the EE Rising Star Award.
Kaluuya beat out fellow actors Tessa Thompson and Timothée Chalamet for the award that’s voted on by the public.
A visibly shocked Kaluuya took the time to thank his mom and the arts.
“I am a product of arts funding within the United Kingdom,” Kaluuya said. “I want to thank people that financially support that, obviously the mainstream arts and grassroots levels.”
Kaluuya received support on social media from his Black Panther co-star Lupita Nyong’o.
