Fans of Dave Chappelle may recall a bit included in his Deep in the Heart of Texas Netflix special detailing a White “fan” throwing a banana peel at him while he performed. The man in question, Christian Englander, is now suing the stand-up.

Englander has named Chappelle and his presumed bodyguard in a suit claiming he was struck by the security officer twice as he was being restrained and escorted out of the venue following his decision to throw items at the performer.
He also claims the move wasn’t racially motivated, as Chappelle implied during the special. Rather, he took issue with a joke the controversial comic told during the show, according to Fox News.
Chappelle has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
