Soon after it was announced that the Carolina Panthers would be up for sale, Sean “Diddy” Combs expressed his interest in owning the NFL team. NBA baller Steph Curry later joined forces with the music mogul in an attempt to acquire the squad together, and both later partnered with billionaire Michael Rubin.
Unfortunately, the price of the team has skyrocketed since those initial conversations, with the Panthers now being valued at $2.5 billion, setting a new record for a U.S. sports franchise. Because of the price spike, Rubin has dropped out of the process, according to Yahoo Sports.
According to Sports Illustrated, Panthers owner Jerry Richardson put the team up for sale following an NFL investigation into workplace harassment allegations against the exec.
