Fans Disappointed Over Fox Canceling ‘Star’ After Three Seasons

Fans are expressing their disappointment over the decision considering the show’s current popularity in comparison to ‘Empire.’

Although Lee Daniels creation Empire will air for one more season, his second Fox drama, Star, has officially been canceled after three seasons.

Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier told Deadline that cancellation of the show starring Queen Latifah, Ryan Destiny and others is partially due to the network choosing to prioritize the Lyon family’s exit from television.

“We looked at our priorities and were trying to prioritize giving Empire the send-off it deserves. The move [of Empire] to 9pm, made it a challenge because Star was always the lead-out from Empire and obviously, we don’t have the 10pm hour, so it was another tough choice in a year where we were prioritizing Empire and obviously some of the other shows that we’ve put on the schedule.”

Former Fox sibling 20th Century Fox TV is currently shopping the series to other platforms, meaning there’s a chance fans will be able to continue their journey with the fictional singing group. In the meantime, some of those fans have already begun to express their disappointment over the corporate decision, especially considering the show’s popularity in comparison with Empire‘s in recent years.
