Gregg Leakes, the husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, has lost his battle with colon cancer. He passed away at age 66. Gregg transitioned peacefully to the other side in in the company of his family at his home.

"Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes," Dukes said. "We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time."

Gregg, who was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2018, had been in remission for two years after six months of chemotherapy,  EBONY previously reported. Back in June, NeNe revealed he was hospitalized and recovering from surgery following the return of his cancer.

In July, NeNe gave another update on her husband's condition after canceling a guest-hosting appearance on The Talk and took to Twitter to share Gregg’s status.

"I was suppose [sic] to be hosting The Talk today," she tweeted. "But I got good news that Gregg was coming home after being hospitalized 6 weeks."

Over the weekend, NeNe stated that Gregg was losing his battle with cancer, saying, “My husband is transitioning to the other side.”

“You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now. … So, when people approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying,” she continued. “I don’t want to say, ‘Happy birthday.'”

In 2008, NeNe was cast as an original member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, one of the most iconic reality shows in the Housewives franchise. For 12 seasons, the Leakes’ relationship was chronicled throughout NeNe’s run on the show.

The couple, who married back in 1997, divorced in 2011 before remarrying in June 2013. They share one son together, Brentt Leakes, 22.

We send our prayers and deepest condolences to NeNe and her entire family.
