The now, newly-minted national holiday of Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, but also highlights a need to spotlight and uplift Black stories. In a new release from HBO Max, the popular streaming service has announced a slate of Black-centered films and TV shows called Our Freedom (Discover Stories About Finding Your Voice.) — to watch and enjoy as Juneteenth commemorations happen across the country.

“Black History is Our History,” which was originally launched on February 1 to highlight Black stories and talent, features enthralling programming that “celebrates Black joy, and collectively supports the telling of stories from the Black perspective.” Amplifying odes to Black joy, love, and adventure—the HBO Max slate of content offers hours of curated programming and features compelling films, documentaries, biopics, and original programming that focuses squarely on the Black experience.
