Idris Elba Likely to Replace Will Smith in ‘Suicide Squad’ Sequel

Will Smith is saying goodbye to Suicide Squad, and will likely be replaced by Luther actor, Idris Elba.

Will Smith is saying goodbye to Suicide Squad, and he will likely be replaced by Luther star Idris Elba.  

THR reports that Smith, who played assassin Deadshot in the 2016 film, opted out of starring in the upcoming sequel due to scheduling conflicts. Elba, the front-runner to replace the Bright actor, made a huge impression on Warner Bros. and director James Gunn during a recent meeting.

Smith is busy preparing for the release of Disney’s live-action version of Aladdin, The latest teaser for the Guy Ritchie-directed film was packed with recreated moments from the original animated film, including music and, of course, a blue genie.
