Idris Elba will be donning a hunched back in his next major film role.

The Luther actor will be reuniting with Netflix for a new version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which he is set to direct, star and produce, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The “modern retelling” of Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel will be written by Michael Mitnick and will tell a gothic romance story of a hunchback named Quasimodo who falls in love with a gypsy named Esmerelda.

The novel was adapted into a 1996 Disney animated movie and the new version will also be a musical.

Elba previously worked with the streamed when he starred in Beasts of No Nation, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He’s also working on a series for Netflix called Turn Up Charlie.

He made his directorial debut earlier this year with the feature film Yardie.
