Issa Rae and Kumail Nanijiani have signed on to Paramount’s romantic comedy The Lovebirds, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The movie will focus on a couple, played by Rae and Nanjiani, who are on the cusp of breaking up before they get “embroiled in a bizarre and hijinks-filled murder mystery, and as they get close to clearing their names and solving the case, the twosome need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night,” writes THR.

The Lovebirds will be directed by Michael Showalter, who directed Nanjiani in 2017’s The Big Sick, and written by Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall and Martin Gero.

Rae and Nanijiani both have television shows on HBO. Rae stars in the comedy Insecure, which has earned her Emmy and Golden Globes nominations; NanijianI appears in the premium cable channel’s Silicon Valley.

The actress’ new movie Little starring Regina Hall and Marsai Martin, 14, who’s the youngest executive producer in Hollywood, comes out on April 12.
