Could the third time be the charm for Janet Jackson?
The superstar singer has just received her third nomination to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The “Pleasure Principle” artist was nominated in 2016 and 2017, according to The Jasmine Brand.
Rufus & Chaka Khan, another 2019 nominee, has been passed over twice before. LL Cool J has been nominated as well, making this the fifth year the hip hop icon has been considered. If accepted, he will be only the seventh rapper inducted into the highly respected organization, after Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A and Tupac Shakur.
Other 2019 nominees include Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Kraftwerk, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Todd Rundgren and The Zombies. Class of 2018 inductees included Nina Simone, Bon Jovi, British bands Dire Straits and the Moody Blues, and The Cars. Gospel pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe was chosen to receive the Award for Early Influence.
