Actor Jason Mitchell, 31, expressed doubt about marriage and monogamy while promoting the film SuperFly with co-star Trevor Jackson on June 12 during a visit at Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.
“Monogamy is such a taboo situation … [and] overrated,” Mitchell said. The Chi star then went on to say he does not believe in marriage. “I’ve seen marriage tear a lot of people down,” he said, adding that he has not seen a lasting union or one that is “faithful” or “fruitful” in his life.
Show host Charlamagne ha God, who is married, said that despite not seeing those examples in his own life, he still feels younger generations “need to break the cycle.” Mitchell agreed with the sentiment but said change happens with “honesty,” not paperwork.
